After a storm, two things happen fast: damage that is invisible from the ground starts working against you, and your neighborhood fills with people knocking on doors. Neither is a good basis for a decision.
What storm damage actually looks like
The single most misunderstood thing about hail damage is that it is not usually dramatic. You are not looking for holes.
- Circular bruises where granules have been knocked off, exposing the asphalt mat to UV.
- Granule accumulation in gutters and at downspout outlets — often the first measurable evidence.
- Soft spots in the mat that you can feel but not see.
- Wind-creased shingles that have resealed slightly out of line, leaving a water path.
- Displaced or bent flashing at valleys, chimneys and wall transitions.
- Damage to soft metals — vents, gutter aprons, AC fins — which often corroborates a hail event.
Our storm process
1. Inspection and documentation
We walk the roof, photograph what we find, and record locations and conditions. If it is unsafe to walk, we use drone assessment. The output is a clear record of the roof's condition — not a sales pitch.
2. We explain what we found
You get the photos and a plain-language explanation of what each condition means for the roof's remaining service life. If we do not find storm damage, we will tell you that too. That happens, and saying so is the whole point of an honest inspection.
3. If you choose to file a claim
We can provide our documentation to support your claim and explain how the restoration process typically works. Your insurance carrier determines coverage. 4. Restoration

A word about storm chasers
After a significant hail event, out-of-state crews arrive, sign as many contracts as they can, and leave. If a company cannot tell you where their local office is, cannot be reached in eighteen months when something needs attention, or pressures you to sign before you have seen the documentation — that is your answer. Take the time to get a second inspection.

It depends on your policy and your carrier. Many policies have a filing deadline measured from the date of loss, which is one reason to get an inspection promptly after a storm rather than waiting for a leak to appear. Check your policy or ask your carrier directly.
No — and be cautious of any roofer who says they will. In Texas, negotiating a claim on a policyholder’s behalf is the work of a licensed public adjuster. What we do is document the roof’s condition thoroughly and explain the restoration process. Your carrier decides coverage.
Then we tell you there is no damage and you owe us nothing. An inspection that only ever finds damage is not an inspection.
You should get your own roof inspected. Hail is genuinely patchy — impact can vary significantly across a single street. What happened next door is a reason to check, not a diagnosis.
