Replacing a roof is not laying new shingles over the same problems. It is the one opportunity you get to correct ventilation, flashing and decking issues that will otherwise outlive the new shingles.
What a complete replacement includes
Property preparation
Landscaping, windows, AC units and driveways get protected before a single shingle is removed. Tear-off is a messy process; containing that mess is part of the job, not a courtesy.
Tear-off to the deck
We remove the existing roofing down to the decking. Layering new shingles over old hides exactly the problems you are paying to eliminate, traps heat, and shortens the life of the new roof.
Deck inspection and repair
With everything off, we can finally see the structural substrate. Soft or delaminated decking gets replaced. This is the step most often skipped by the cheapest bid, and the one most likely to cause a callback.
Leak protection at vulnerable areas
Ice-and-water style membrane in valleys and around penetrations, where water concentrates and where wind-driven rain gets pushed uphill.
Synthetic underlayment
A secondary moisture barrier across the full deck. Synthetic sheds water better than felt, lies flatter, and does not wrinkle or tear as readily during installation.
Starter shingles and edge detail
Purpose-made starter course along eaves and rakes. This is where wind uplift begins, and it is a genuinely common shortcut — cut-up field shingles used as starter do not have the sealant strip in the right place.
Architectural shingles
Dimensional shingles with correct nailing pattern, correct exposure, and correct fastener placement in the nail zone. Placement matters more than brand.
Ventilation
Balanced intake and exhaust. In Texas, an attic that cannot breathe cooks the roof from below and drives your cooling bill up. We size ventilation to the attic, not to habit.
Ridge caps and finish
Purpose-made ridge caps over the ridge vent, then a full site cleanup and a magnetic nail sweep of the property.

Most residential replacements in the Houston metro are completed in one to two days, weather permitting. Steeper or more complex roofs, or projects with significant deck repair, can run longer. We give you a realistic window before we start.
It helps to be available at the start and at the walkthrough, but you do not need to be present all day. We will confirm access needs beforehand.
Protected before tear-off begins, and a magnetic nail sweep is run across the driveway and lawn at the end of the project. Clean job sites are one of the six things we hold ourselves to.
Sometimes, but it is worth understanding the trade-offs first. Partial replacement can leave a visible color difference and does not address system-wide ventilation. We will tell you when it makes sense and when it does not.
